Company delivers 150 cases of hand sanitizer to help protect seniors as part of Rabba Roots program
Mississauga, Ont., July 19, 2021 – Rabba Fine Foods, the Greater Toronto Area’s local neighbourhood market, delivered 150 cases of hand sanitizer on Friday, July 16 to Erin Court Co-operative Homes Inc., a Mississauga-based non-profit housing co‑operative devoted to providing housing solutions to vulnerable families and individuals living with low to moderate incomes. Part of the company’s Rabba Roots Community Program, and in partnership with Mayor Bonnie Crombie, the donation aims to protect those seniors in the community most vulnerable to COVID-19. The donation will be distributed through COVID Care Kits to seniors living at Erin Court Co-op.
“We recognize the contributions seniors have in our communities,” says Rima Rabba, spokesperson for Rabba Fine Foods. “It is important that we support our seniors, especially those who are most vulnerable. The demand for hand sanitizer has grown during the pandemic and we’re doing everything we can to collaborate with non-profits like Erin Court Co-operative Homes Inc.”
“I want to sincerely thank Rabba Roots Community Program for its generous donation to Erin Court Co-operative Homes Inc.,” says Bonnie Crombie, Mayor of Mississauga. “COVID-19 has been an incredibly challenging time for so many people in our community, but particularly our most vulnerable. And it’s groups like the Rabba Roots Community Program that have stepped up time and time again to support those most in need, showing the true spirit of Mississauga. We are truly lucky to have them as a partner in our city.”
Every month, Erin Court Co-op holds a food pantry to support vulnerable families or individuals living in the building. During the month of July, the organization will be distributing COVID Care Kits with disposable masks and hand sanitizer to homebound and isolated seniors.
“In challenging times like these, we are indeed fortunate to have the generous support of community-minded organizations like the Rabba Roots Community Program,” says Joshua Cyrus, board of director at Erin Court Co-operative Homes Inc. “We sincerely thank Rabba Fine Foods for its donation of hand sanitizer to help us support and protect the people in our community. The hand sanitizer will help with healthy hand hygiene of the seniors in our co-operative.”
Rabba invites all those who are able to make a donation to their local non-profit or food bank to do so.
