Rabba wins top industry award for sustainability efforts

Mississauga, September 9, 2025 – Rabba Fine Foods, the GTA’s well-known 24/7 urban market, has won Canadian Grocer’s 2025 Impact Award for the fifth consecutive year, highlighting Rabba’s ongoing commitment to reducing environmental footprint while strengthening community partnerships.

“As a neighbourhood grocer, we recognize the responsibility we have to care for the places where we live and work,” said Rima Rabba, Head of Marketing and Rabba Roots Program Director. “Sustainability in Action reflects our commitment to reducing waste, improving how we operate, and making practical choices that support the wellbeing of the local communities we serve.”

These efforts reflect the guiding principles of the Rabba Roots Community Giving Program, the company’s initiative that blends sustainability with social responsibility.

Rabba Fine Foods has won Canadian Grocer’s 2025 Impact Award for the fifth consecutive year, in the Sustainability category.

Rabba has completed several impactful initiatives that demonstrate its commitment to sustainable business practices. In partnership with Green Integrations and Star Energy Solutions, the company installed over 2,500 solar panels across its Mississauga distribution centres and administrative offices. Rabba also expanded its efforts to combat food waste by working with Food Banks Mississauga and Second Harvest, redirecting an estimated 25,000 pounds of surplus food annually from landfill to individuals and families facing food insecurity in the Greater Toronto Area. In addition, the grocer has introduced recyclable and reusable packaging across all its local markets, as part of a broader initiative to eliminate single-use plastics.

The Canadian Grocer Impact Awards celebrate retailers and suppliers who are making a meaningful difference in their communities and across the industry through innovation, compassion, and leadership.
