Rabba installs countertop glass barriers to protect cashier and customer as part of campaign to stay open for customers

A customer pays for groceries and home essentials at a local Rabba store, Sunday, March 22, 2020, in Toronto – the day the company began the installation of protective glass separators in all of its 34 local markets.

Mississauga, Ont., March 23, 2020 – Rabba Fine Foods, the GTA’s neighbourhood market, began on Sunday the installation of countertop glass barriers that aim to offer maximum protection for both cashier and customer. The install will be completed by Wednesday of this week.

“We are doing everything we can to stay open for our customers and, at the same time, to increase their safety and comfort while in our stores,” says Rick Rabba, president of Rabba Fine Foods.

The chain is also using in-store real estate space to post educational signs and messages from local health authorities as part of its efforts to keep customers and staff safe.

These latest initiatives are part of a broader pandemic-defence campaign from Rabba that has included an increase in disinfecting and sanitization of stores, introduction of gloves and hand-sanitizers for staff and education among both staff and customers on the importance of proper hygiene, distancing and staying at home when feeling any symptoms. Most importantly, the company has been working around the clock to remain open and as fully stocked as possible.

“We have been working 24/7 in an effort to source quality products, bring them to our stores quickly and to keep them fairly priced,” says Rabba. “I could not be more proud of the Rabba team and express my gratitude to them, as well as our store managers, for their resilience during these times.”
