Rabba Fine Foods shares the spirit of Easter with its largest donation yet to Food Banks Mississauga
In partnership with Burnbrae Farms, Maple Leaf Foods and Danone through its Rabba Roots Community Giving Program
Mississauga, Ont. – April 16, 2025 – Rabba Fine Foods has made its largest Easter season donation to Food Banks Mississauga through its Rabba Roots Community Giving Program. The donation included 320 Carver’s hams, 5,400 eggs, two full pallets of fresh and shelf-stable almond and cashew milk, and nearly 200 pounds of fresh fruit—an effort aimed at providing nutritious support to individuals and families during the holiday season.
“It’s an absolute honour to be able to work with our partners to support the work of Food Banks Mississauga in alleviating some of the pressures faced by families in our community,” says Rima Rabba, who heads Rabba Roots.
In response to the escalating food insecurity crisis in Mississauga, Rabba has increased its efforts to mobilize resources to help deliver food items to those in need. This initiative aligns with the alarming statistics reported by Food Banks Mississauga, which indicate that 1 in 13 residents—approximately 56,267 individuals—have relied on food bank services in the past year. Notably, 28% of these individuals are children, highlighting the critical nature of the situation.
“After Mississauga saw the fastest growing rate of food bank use in the province in 2024, we need the support of our community more than ever as Food Banks Mississauga is facing uncertainty with how potential economic pressures will impact food bank use,” says Daisy Yiu, Director of Marketing & Communications at Food Banks Mississauga. “The cost of living continues to soar, and we’re grateful to Rabba for its donation to support neighbours living with food insecurity during our Spring Drive.”
“At Burnbrae Farms, we believe in the power of community and the importance of supporting food access initiatives,” says Iain McRuvie, Vice President, Retail Sales of Burnbrae Farms. “Partnering with Rabba Roots allows us to make a meaningful impact by providing fresh, nutritious eggs to those who need them most. We’re proud to work alongside Rabba Fine Foods in their ongoing commitment to local communities.”
“Maple Leaf Foods is proud to partner with Rabba Fine Foods to support our local communities,” says Stephen Carroll, Customer Business Development Manager at Maple Leaf Foods. “By coming together, we can make a greater impact.”
“Access to nutritious food is essential for building strong, healthy communities,” says Steve Aucoin, Director of Sales – Impulse Channel at Danone Canada. “Partnering with Rabba Roots allows us to support local families in a meaningful way, ensuring they have access to quality food when they need it most. This collaboration aligns with our mission of bringing health through food to as many people as possible and we’re proud to continue contributing to the important work being done in Mississauga.”
