TORONTO, June 13, 2019 – Rabba Fine Foods, the GTA’s neighbourhood market, announces today its support of the annual Rooftop Festival of Student Family Housing of the University of Toronto.

The event, which takes place on the rooftop garden located at 30 Charles Street West, on Saturday, June 15, allows for residents of Student Family Housing to get together for an afternoon filled with activities, food, and the opportunity to engage with neighbours. It has become one of the most highly anticipated events of the year, and kicks off the opening of the university’s rooftop garden.

For the 5th consecutive year, Rabba will donate a variety of barbecue food items, condiments, utensils, and tableware to the event’s more than 2,000 residents.

“Supporting local communities has always been important to us,” says Rick Rabba, president, Rabba Fine Foods. “The community around the University of Toronto, in particular, is dear to our hearts. We’ve been a part of the community for almost 50 years. Participating in this annual event represents a token of our appreciation for the university’s residents, many of whom are longstanding customers in our stores.”

The Charles Street West Rabba location is one of the first markets owned by the Rabba family.

“Rabba has always been well appreciated by our students,” says Maureen Lynch, Residence Life Program Coordinator, University of Toronto.  “The contributions by community partners like Rabba help us to provide our residents with a more optimal student living experience”.

Lynch first approached Rabba about the possibility of supporting the organization’s annual event more than 5 years ago. Since then, Rabba has continued to support the student residence’s many events.
