Mississauga, Ont. – April 1, 2026 – In the spirit of giving this Easter season, Rabba Fine Foods is supporting local families in need with a significant food donation to Food Banks Mississauga. Through its Rabba Roots Community Giving Program and in partnership with Burnbrae Farms, Maple Leaf Foods and others, Rabba delivered more than 2,000 pounds of nutritious essentials.
This year’s donation features a wide range of staple and fresh items, in what has become an annual tradition, including the annual 5400 Burnbrae eggs, over 300 units of Carver’s Choice bacon, and 25 cases of Bush Brothers baked beans in a variety of flavours. Large amounts of fresh produce such as apples, pineapples, oranges and cantaloupes round out the donation, helping to provide balanced, nourishing options for families in need.
“Easter is a time for coming together, and we believe everyone deserves access to wholesome nutrition. This year’s donation focuses on high-protein items and fresh variety,” says Rima Rabba, who heads Rabba Roots. “Collectively, this 2,000-pound gift provides enough food for 2,000 meals ensuring local households have everything they need for a complete, healthy holiday.”
With food insecurity continuing to impact communities across the region, Rabba Roots remains committed to supporting local initiatives that provide meaningful, immediate relief to families. From June 2024 to May 2025, Food Banks Mississauga saw over half a million visits – the highest ever in its history. Nearly 30% of food bank visitors in Mississauga have employment compared to less than 15% just four years ago.
“Food insecurity continues to worsen for our neighbours, and it’s affecting all community members, including those with employment. With the rising cost of living, having a job – or multiple jobs – no longer guarantees food security,” says Daisy Yiu, Director of Marketing & Communications at Food Banks Mississauga. “Whether they are working or receiving social assistance, most months are a struggle for food bank visitors who must rely on us for food support. That’s why we are grateful for partners like Rabba Fine Foods for their support this spring.”
