Rabba Fine Foods and its customers donate 2,500 meals through Toonies for Tummies 2020 fundraising campaign

Rabba employee waves goodbye to the Toonies for Tummies Campaign, happy to help youth in the GTA gain access healthy meals.

Mississauga, Ont., March 5, 2020 – Rabba Fine Foods, the GTA’s neighborhood market, will provide breakfasts to some 2,500 children in GTA schools as part of The Grocery Foundation’s annual Toonies for Tummies fundraising campaign. The meals are the result of some $5,188 raised in store, from February 6 to 20, 2020

“Rabba has deep roots in the communities we serve,” says Rima Rabba, representative for Rabba Fine Foods. “Our customers are our neighbours. We’re always very honoured and enthusiastic to help worthy causes such as this one.”

Rabba first participated in Toonies for Tummies in 2015. After six years, the company and its customers have raised close to $30,000 for the program. The campaign occurs annually during the winter months. Rabba staff invite customers to donate to the program while the company deploys promotional efforts to spread the word on the harmful presence of hunger in our communities and the good work of The Grocery Foundation to combat its impact.

“Everyone, especially children, should have access to food,” says Rabba. “A good day at school or work starts with a healthy breakfast. We’re grateful that our customers share our desire to help those in our community who are struggling. Together, we can help people during life’s tougher moments and unexpected challenges.”

Research conducted by The Grocery Foundation reveals that one in five children in our communities go hungry. The Grocery Foundation embraces teamwork and cooperation to tackle the problem. A community of grocery, food, beverage and consumer product companies, The Grocery Foundation is driven by a mission to feed the children who come to school hungry. Like Rabba, it believes that by coming together, we stand to have the biggest impact.
