Mississauga, Ont., Nov. 12, 2024 – Jack Rabba, founder of Rabba Fine Foods, was recently awarded the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award by Heritage Mississauga at their 2024 The Credits gala. This annual event honors Mississauga’s “Heritage Heroes,” those who contribute significantly to preserving and celebrating the city’s rich history.
For over 50 years, Jack Rabba has exemplified dedication to the Mississauga community. In 1967, he began in the grocery business, launching what would grow into a beloved network of neighborhood markets across the Greater Toronto Area. Known for his commitment to 24/7 convenience and service, Jack created more than just stores – he established essential community hubs where neighbors could connect and get daily essentials around the clock.
Throughout his career, Jack Rabba has championed community causes, notably supporting Food Banks Mississauga, Trillium Health Partners Foundation, local schools, shelters, and numerous community events, including the Southside Shuffle blues festival. His philanthropic legacy reflects his deep connection to the neighborhoods Rabba serves and his enduring mission to give back to those in need. His contributions to business and community have been widely recognized, with accolades such as Entrepreneur of the Year and the Top 25 Canadian Immigrant awards, as well as public acknowledgment from politicians and community leaders for his role in uplifting the immigrant community.
“It’s a privilege to receive this award and to be part of Mississauga’s story,” says Jack Rabba, founder of Rabba Fine Foods. “This city has supported my family and our businesses from the beginning, and I’m grateful for the chance to give back in any way I can. This honor really belongs to everyone in our community who works every day to make Mississauga a great place to live and grow.”
The Lifetime Achievement Award is one of the highest distinctions presented by Heritage Mississauga, recognizing individuals who demonstrate outstanding commitment to the city’s heritage and community spirit. This year’s The Credits gala, held on November 7, 2024, at the Mississauga Grand Banquet and Event Hall, brought together local leaders and residents to celebrate the impact of those who strengthen Mississauga’s community fabric.
