Canadian Owned Family Operated
In the 1960's, the Rabba family opened a small grocery store. Over the next few years, seven more stores were opened. All stores were managed by the Rabba family with the help of conscientious staff trained in the old tradition of customer services and care. To the present, Rabba remains a family run business.
You'll find there's no "red tape" at Rabba. The family culture of personal service and caring means knowing their customers and learning from them what they need and want. And then, being able to respond almost immediately. We often surprise customers with how quickly we get the products they requested.
In the 1980's, the retail market place was changing dramatically and the GTA was growing and becoming more sophisticated. The early years grounded the Rabba's well in serving customer needs and anticipating market changes. The very first "Rabba Fine Foods" store was opened - a fabulous, state of the art store at a prestigious location, on Queen's Quay, at the harbourfront of Toronto.
The management at Rabba knew what customers wanted - more product selection and more fresh foods! That was the beginning of the Rabba stores we see today. Bright, accessible, local markets that offer customer their grocery needs in one convenient location.
From the beginning, Rabba emphasized its commitment to product quality by buying and distributing from produce without a middleman or central warehouse, selecting only the best.
This emphasis was not limited to fruits and vegetables alone. Rabba built its own warehouse for groceries, frozen and refrigerated foods. The objective was better buying and competitive retails. Frequent store deliveries also permitted aggressive specials advertising and fewer products being out of stock.
Thanks to the loyalty of our customers, the Rabba stores are kept constantly busy and the chain continues to expand. At present, there are 30 stores, with more new additions set to open in the near future.
Rabba's customers continue to enjoy great selection, quality, freshness, convenience and service second to none. Our regular customers know that our pricing is competitive to larger supermarkets, flyer specials prove it - week after week. Attractive "Everyday Low Prices" on the most commonly used products is also a key marketing strategy.
As schedules are constantly getting busier and people are starved for time, Rabba's focus continues to be excellent service, value and selection at competitive prices.
